Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A senior official said the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
